Three interconnecting segments spanning over a few decades showing the lives of two elementary school friends, Takaki and Akari who start off as pen pals when the change schools. Over the years the friends continue to change schools, Takaki has is sights set on the future and has big plans while Akari can only see the distance slowly creeping in between the two of them. Akari is in love with Takaki but he doesn’t see it, will she get the opportunity to tell him or will more time continue to pass making it impossible
