Awakenings

Based on the true story Dr. Malcolm Sayer finds himself in a new job as a doctor on the ward with a group of catatonic patients. Uneasy at the fact that no one is putting any effort in to try and help or cure these patients Malcolm discovers a chemical cure which he is able to try on one of the patients, Leonard Lowe. When Leonard awakes it is like he is born again, not having spoken or moved in many years Leonard finds himself a young boy in an older mans body but joyous at the fact he is finally living. Soon after the other patients awaken from the new drug as well, for a time everything is better than well on the ward until Leonard begins to get his old shakes back that he had as a boy. Leonard has made friends with Malcolm and is in love with Paula, he has brightened up the ward but how will his story end
