Braindead

in the 1950’s a rare and dangerous species of Sumatran rat-monkey is caged and brought to a New Zealand zoo as a new attraction. Lionel Cosgrove lives with his mother Vera who keeps a close eye on him, so she is especially worried when Lionel takes interest in local girl Paquita. Vera is accidentally bitten by the rat-monkey while spying on Lionel and Paquita at the zoo and she soon becomes violently ill. Soon Vera passes away but immediately after she comes back to life as a wild zombie-like eating machine, she kills and infects a dog, nurse, friends and neighbors, soon the entire area is covered with diseased and filth ridden corpses. Lionel and Paquita must protect themselves as well as destroy every last infected person before it spreads further, so in a violent and bloody mess involving a lawnmower and other household items the two lovebirds fight for survival.
