Full Metal Jacket

A two-segment look at the life of a group of marines from military basic training to life at war in Vietnam. A handful of recruits are tortured mentally and physically by the abusive Gunnery Sargent Hartman but none more than Pvt. Pyle who is set upon from day one because of his weight and lack of skills, the torment eventually leads to a devastating murder on camp grounds. We then follow Pvt. Joker who has made it to Vietnam and looking to get where the action is, and experience the war first hand. Covering the war as a corespondent for Stars and Stripes, Pvt. Joker joins a group of men in the heat of battle and soon finds himself as a cog in the machine of war, witnessing the dehumanizing effects it has on his fellow recruits and even himself.
