Banker Sam Wheat and his artist girlfriend, Molly Jensen move into their newly renovated Manhattan loft, life is good and everything is on the up. One night while walking home from the theater, Sam is shot and killed by a mugger leaving Molly on her own, and though Sam’s ghost appears, nobody can see or hear him. Sam soon discovers a plot involving his best friend and work colleague Carl Bruner, who seems to be involved with his seemingly random murder, however is related to a $4 million account that Sam was going to close. Sam comes across Oda Mae Brown, a phony psychic reader who is the only person who can hear his voice, Sam needs Oda Mae to talk to Molly for him and warn her about Carl as well as tell her how much he loves her. Oda Mae takes some convincing but decides to help Sam in foiling Carl’s plot and intentions with Molly.
