Heaven & Earth

In a small peaceful Vietnamese village before the war lives Le Ly, a young carefree girl whose life changes when the Americans arrive and the war begins. After being imprisoned, tortured and raped by the Vietcong for suspicion over being a spy, Le Ly leaves her village for Saigon with her mother and sister. Le Ly is employed by a rich family to be a nanny, however she gets pregnant by the man of the house and is fired, sending her with her sister into prostitution and selling goods to the G.I’s. When Le Ly meets U.S. Marine Sergeant Steve Butler, the two fall in love and have a child and eventually move to San Diego to begin their life together. Le Ly becomes a successful businesswoman though her marriage dissolves as Steve’s years of killing makes him become uncontrollably violent, leaving Le Ly to consider moving back to Vietnam to be with her family once again.
