A World War II satire about a little German boy called Jojo who is a devout follower of Hitler, even to the point of having him as an imaginary friend. While in Hitlers army young Jojo discovers his mother, Rosie is hiding a Jewish girl called Elsa in their walls. Unable to turn her in and endanger her mothers life, Jojo plans on examining and questioning Elsa about her Jewish history and culture, and over time his blind nationalism is turned upside down as he realizes she is just a normal girl. With the end of the war approaching Jojo must be careful not to expose Elsa and keep his secret while training with the other boys, under the careful watch of Captain Klenzendorf and the other leaders.
