In the late 30’s while under Shanghai-occupied Japan during World War II, Wong Chia Chi is recruited by her University drama troupe to go undercover for real on a mission to assassinate an important official, Mr. Yee. Wong goes undercover as Mrs. Mak, posing as an upper-class wife who infiltrates the Yee residence and befriends Mrs. Yee and eventually Mr. Yee. Wong and Mr. Yee develop an intense attraction towards one another that is ignited after a four year separation when she gets the opportunity at another go on taking out the political figure, though now more than ever he is guarded and careful with every move he makes. With the mission dragging on and Wong’s professional and personal life blended together with her feelings towards Mr. Yee it seems their is little hope of accomplishing the task at all.
