Set in the 1920’s, English magician Stanley had dedicated his life to revealing fraudulent spiritualists in order to prove his belief of no unseen spiritual afterlife. Stanley is told by his magician friend about a girl living with a rich family who claims to be a spiritualist and is helping this family to communicate with their departed loved ones. Stanley confronts this girl known as Sophie to uncover the truth and present her as a fraud but he soon finds himself believing what she is doing is in fact real. Stanleybegins falling in love with her as wellwhich is presenting more and more problems for himself including everything he has ever believed in being turned upside down.
