California high-school English teacher, Rachel Stevens, volunteers as a chaperone for three of her students, heading to a drama competition over the weekend. Billy is a talented actor with behavioral issues who is on medication, while Margot and Sam are much easier for Miss Stevens to deal with. Billy treats Miss Stevens as a friend and adult which makes her feel uncomfortable as she is used to talking at students not with them. Over the weekend Rachel opens up to Billy about her mother and her uncertainties, though Billy has stronger feeling towards her. Over the exhausting weekend dealing with competition assignments and a broke down car the four develop a close bond and friendship that encourages each member to return home with a greater appreciation.
