Prosecutor and right-hand man of the district attorney, Rusty Sabich, arrives at work to discover his colleague Carolyn Polhemus was raped and murdered in her apartment. Rusty takes charge of the investigation but the attorney, Raymond Horgan, feels Rusty is delaying the case and forgetting important evidence. When it comes out that a fingerprint on a glass in Carolyn’s apartment matches Rusty’s as well as his rare blood type found on her body, he is placed as the number one suspect. Yes Rusty, a married man, did have an affair with Carolyn and the case is made that after she broke the relationship off, Rusty went wild and murdered her. Now geared up with a top lawyer, Rusty is facing a judge and jury to prove his innocence, though the truth may never come to light.
