Silence

In the 17th century, two Jesuit priests, Rodrigues and Garupe feel God has called them to travel to Japan in search for their mentor Father Ferreira who supposedly denounced God to save his life. Upon arrival the two young priests realize just how beaten down Christianity is in Japan, the locals must keep quiet or die if they are found to have faith. Rodrigues and Garupe split up and over the following months they are beaten down and held captive until they apostasies, it becomes almost impossible to resist as Rodrigues is starting to believe God will remain silent forever.
