Lucky Prescott’s life changes when she moves with her aunt Cora from the big city, to a small frontier town to be with her estranged father, Jim. She hasn’t seen her father since the death of her mother when she was an infant, but now Lucky is prepared to follow in her footsteps. When Lucky meets a wild mustang named Spirit, she instantly bonds with the horse, along with her new friends, Pru and Abigail, Lucky forms a strong friendship. An outlaw known as Hendricks is planning on stealing Spirit and a wild group of horses to train and sell far away, so when Lucky, Pru and Abigail hear of this, they set out secretly on the trail of Hendricks and his outlaw posse to stop them. When Jim and Cora find out what is going on they panic at the thought of loosing Lucky as they did her mother, though her free spirit will prove to be stronger than everybody thought.
