Ever since he was a young boy Evan Treborn has suffered from blackouts during important events in his life with no memory of what took place. Growing up with just his mother due to his father being a mental patient Evan has a shady childhood with bad friends and abusive parental figures. As a grown up Evan discovers a way in which he can begin to recall those events he missed when reading journal entries he wrote as a child, now having the capacity to not only remember but to alter past wrongs and moments Evan opens up a world of infinite possibilities and futures, but is that something to be messed with?
