The Color Purple

An epic story of the life and trails of a young black girl named Celie Johnson during the early 1900’s. Celie was pregnant at age 14 by her abusive father and when the child is taken by the father she doubts herself of having any worth. Soon after being separated from he best friend and sister Nettie, Celie finds herself as amaid for an older man called Albert who is also abusive and treats Celie horribly. Over the next 30 years we see Celie grow and discover what she has missed in the world through her new friends Shug Avery and Sofia, and when it comes down to it Celie has to make the decision to truly live and leave her prisoner lifestyle that Albert has put her in or be trapped forever.
