When Gil’s favorite player, Bobby Rayburn signs a $40 million contract with the Giants, Gil is over the moon, however after Bobby suffers an injury early in the very first game his performance dwindles over the rest of the season, bringing down antagonizing fans that jeer him. When Gil looses his job he becomes more unhinged, and with a desperate attempt to get Bobby’s A-game back he goes to extremes that result in the death of another popular player, Juan Primo.
