The Reader

Post WWII in Germany, school boy Michael Berg comes across older woman Hanna Schmitz whom he falls in love with. Hanna and Michael keep their relationship a secret over the following summer but things mysteriously come to an end when Hanna disappears. Almost a decade later when studying law Michael finds his former lover defending herself in a war-crime trial exposed as a Nazi. Hanna’s fate lies with the judge as she is facing life imprisonment for the deaths of many Jewish women during the war.
