In the icy-cold fictional town of Blue Springs, Montana, high-school senior Roy Chutney has just lost his estranged father in an accident, and has also been cut from the school football team. Also being distant from his mother, Roy is feeling at a loss of what to do or where to go, when he runs into local paper-man Gideon Ferguson, who is looking to put together a six-man football team. After being convinced to join the team along with his friend Tracy, Roy also strikes up a relationship with Skyla, a barmaid at the local tavern and things are beginning to look up. Gideon is a great coach and mentor to Roy, but when he seems to become too interested, the towns rumors about his sexuality begin to play on Roy’s mind and why he perused him for the team.
