The Talented Mr. Ripley

In the late 1950’s New York, underachiever Tom Ripley makes his living impersonation people, faking careers and getting by on lies. When he is introduced to shipping magnate Herbert Greenleaf, Tom pretends to know his son Dickie through Princeton, an obvious lie. Herbert wants Tom to travel to Italy to convince Dickie to move back home for a price, Tom accepts and begins his new life. Upon arrival Tom strikes up an instant friendship with Dickie and his fiancee Marge who are living the high life traveling all over Europe, Tom tags along and gradually develops an obsession with Dickie that becomes dangerously consuming. When an unforeseen event takes place out on a boat, Tom, Dickie and Marge’s lives are changed forever and Tom goes to extremes to maintain a great illusion that will either make or break his future.
