The Teahouse of the August Moon

One year after World War II, Captain Fisby is sent to Okinawa to teach the locals in the village of Tobiki democracy. Accompanied by the local interpreter Sakini, Captain Fisby intends on following his orders precisely, that is until he meets the locals. The Captain is ordered to build a pentagon shaped school house for the children, but the Okinawan’s have different plans, they tell Captain Fisby of their culture and traditions which eventually persuade him to build a teahouse for the locals instead of the school. Now embracing the culture around him Captain Fisby is faced with the difficult task of breaking the news to his superiors.
