In a suburban neighborhood of Waco, Texas during the 1950’s the O’Brien family lives and grows. Mr and Mrs O’Brien have three boys, Jack, R.L. and Steve, we see the years through the point of view of the eldest son Jack, right up until his adult life. Living with a strict no nonsense father and a loving patient mother the three boys experience the very essence of childhood and the struggle to do what is right when your body and soul are at war. Jack struggles to relate to his father because of his harshness while feeling like his mother is a pushover, their conflicting teachings cause tension between the boys. In the present Jack finds himself as a lost soul in the modern world as he tries to reconcile his complicated relationship with his father.
