The Young Lions

The story of three soldiers during World War II, German officer Christian Diestl is a Nazi soldier under Hitler, at first he approves of the war but as time passes Christian witnesses the horrors of war and his mind changes, he realises how evil it all really is. Two American new recruits join together, Noah Ackerman who is recently married and stage performer Michael Whiteacre who turns from playboy to hero. The two Americans struggle to find friendship in their own ranks and Noah is pushed to the limit by some of the men, while Michael is longing for home and his girlfriend. All three men reach the end of the war with different outcomes and perspectives on life.
