While traveling through Philadelphiawith his mother, young Amish boy Samuel Lap witnesses a murder in a train station bathroom. A police officer named John Book is assigned to the case, so when he discovers the killers are coming after Samuelthey go into hiding. John, Samuel and his mother Rachel return to their Amish countryside village while the heat cools off, John is finding it difficult to adjust to the hard-working yet relaxed lifestyle of the Amish and he is developing feelings for Rachel, but they have to stay alert as the murderers are still on their trail.
